American Traveler is hiring an LPN for an outpatient ambulatory care role in Alaska requiring an active LPN license and 2+ years of experience.

Job Details

• Outpatient ambulatory care and floor nursing setting,
• Provides nursing care to patients across the lifespan from birth to elderly,
• May work alongside Health Aides to ensure rooms are stocked and checklists completed,
• May assist with ordering medical supplies,
• May screen calls and assist mid-levels in the clinic after hours, though not serving as first responder for on-call duties,
• Monday through Friday schedule,
• 13-week assignment,

Job Requirements

• Active LPN license in the State of Alaska required (license required if applicable),
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required,
• Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN program required,
• Current BLS/BCLS certification required,
• IV certification course preferred,
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification preferred,
• Documentation required for IV/central line site care, fall precautions, age-specific competencies, abuse/neglect, pain management, blood transfusions, and other core competencies,
• Must pass a medication calculation math test for adults and pediatrics prior to working,
• Knowledge of medical terminology required,
• Familiarity with psychiatric patient care required,
• Experience with basic medical equipment such as dynamap and thermometer required,
• DOB and SSN required for consideration,

• Applies age-specific and culturally sensitive considerations when delivering care,
• Duties and responsibilities may vary depending on assigned area,
• Orientation held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays,
• Hospital housing provided in a remote area, offered in shared units with private bedrooms and common spaces, separated by gender, no pets allowed,
• Flight reimbursement provided for economy-level travel to and from the assignment, with required documentation submitted in advance,
• Facility assists with airport pickup upon arrival but not for departure,
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
